Christmas Stroll and Parade in Great Falls MT

Tonight was the annual Christmas Stroll and Parade down Central Avenue in Great Falls, Montana. This was our first attendance at this event since we moved here just this past April 2009. I struck up a conversation with a fellow watcher about how this small town apparently has a huge affection for the young ladies of this town being baton twirlers. They were the beginning of the parade and seemed to go on for miles. Bless them for marching, twirling, and freezing to entertain.

To make everyone feel more in the spirit of things, the weather was in wintry performance and the cold has just kept pouring on more and more since leaving the festivities a little early due to my kids being uncomfortable. (We had a talk about putting on more layers and being prepared for cold weather while driving home.)

Now everything is covered with white powdery snow and I don't know how many inches are expected to fall through the night. I have a feeling we will be staying indoors tomorrow.

I will have to pull out my Aunt Grace quilt top and get to work on finishing the embroidery borders. This has been my procrastination remark for some time in waiting for a good wintry snow to fall to inspire me to pick this project up again.

Stay warm and have a wonderful weekend!

Patriotism Great Falls MT July 4th Parade

Good times, good weather, and good friends -- a wonderful making for an outing to the 2009 Great Falls Parade. Red, white and blue was displayed everywhere and applause for the veterans was generous. It felt like small town Americana to me being a spectator of Great Falls, Montana after having recently moved from Nashville, TN. It was a very happy feeling and I hope to be able to celebrate many more holidays like that here.

Vintage Cars in 4th of July Parade Great Falls MT

A group in Great Falls, MT has a love for vintage automobiles and proudly display them whenever they get the chance.

This 4th of July parade was no exception for a stroll down Central Avenue. One can tell these are a pride, joy, pet, baby and whatever wonderful nickname you can think of.

I don't even know all the names, so hopefully you will and enjoy the photos.

Gibson Park, Great Falls -- Montana

One beautiful asset to the town of Great Falls, Montana is Gibson Park. Today my family had the privilege of being invited by the Great Falls Arts Association to attend a "Paint Outing" there. It was our first visit and we will be returning many more times this year as well as bringing family members for picnic and walks when they come to visit.

The scenery is gorgeous. The layout is friendly for many to come and go as they please. Out visit this time was centered around the Flower Garden and Arch as pictured here. I must get back and picture the BandShell soon!

Taco Treat -- Great Falls, MT

After a Sunday afternoon of shopping on 10th Avenue South in Great Falls with my daughter, Savannah Rose, we decided to try Taco Treat.

She ordered a Chicken Fiesta Salad and I ordered Supreme Nachos along with 2 medium drinks. The price for the order was reasonable, but we found the food to be bland, even with the sauce. Also, the cups for a "medium" size were not very big and we filled them up three times before leaving.

On a very good note: there were some wonderful works of art in the form of masks hanging on the wall and I couldn't help pulling out the digital camera to capture some photos.

I did not see a note about whether these are regular on display or some local artist or class work. Kudos go out the the creator(s)!

Cruisin' the Drag -- Great Falls, MT

These are the pictures I took at this event. They don't do the shine on chrome that was on display that day. A lot of love goes into each of these pieces of art.

With talks of the economy and auto industry bankruptcy on national news, I couldn't help take some pictures of one of the Pontiacs at the show. My 11 year old son, Wynston loved the airplane on the front!
